Closer Than You Realize
As one travels through the Great Smoky Mountains there are beautiful sights to behold over every hill and around every bend. A quiet walk will give you an even greater appreciation for God's creation as your senses are stimulated by what you see, hear, smell and feel. Even greater than that is the closeness you begin to experience with the One who made it all for your enjoyment.
Sometimes you don't even have to look far for tumbling waters such as the one pictured. This cascade sits right beside the main road running through the park on the North Carolina side. You will want to watch for passing cars though as you photograph it!
Just as many of the Smoky Mountains' views and vistas are within just a
short distance of the roadway, our Heavenly Father is also never far
away either. And He desires an intimate relationship with you. Just
think of that for a moment; let it sink in -- the Creator of the
universe wants to be near to YOU.
James 4:8 reads...
"Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded."
As you draw near to God, He assures you that He will draw near to you. That fellowship can be hindered by hearts and hands that are unclean. So repent of your sinful actions, attitudes, thoughts and desires so that nothing stands between you and God.
The writer of Hebrews puts it this way...
"Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water." (Hebrews 10:22)
He is closer than you realize! Now it's up to you to determine HOW close.
