Available to All

We were perplexed at first... people riding around on what seemed to be publicly used bicycles in Dallas, TX. The ones pictured were in a nice rack but most were just parked on street corners or in parks everywhere you looked.

We came to find out that each one had a wheel lock that was opened when you scanned a QR code on the bike and payed for its use electronically in advance through an app. When the bicycle was immobile for a certain period of time then it would re-lock. Anyone could use the bikes. What a really cool and creative idea!

Just as these bikes were available to all people -- of all ages, all sizes, all languages, all ethnicities -- it is also true of God's love. Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) When Jesus speaks of the world He means you and me! Consider the magnitude of that. The Creator of the universe cared so much about you personally and individually that He sacrificed His very own Son to keep you from having to face a death penalty for the sin in your life.

Unlike these bicycles though, God's love and salvation do not come with a cost -- they are 100% completely free. The Apostle Paul wrote, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23) Yes, eternal life is a gift. You receive it by accepting Jesus Christ into your heart and life; taking Him as Savior and Lord. The Bible clearly says...

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." (Romans 10:9,13)

So what are you waiting for? There's nothing hindering you from receiving this gift except perhaps your stubbornness or pride. Please do not let that separate you from God for eternity!
