Shine Despite the Gray Clouds
I am always hopeful when going to Clingmans Dome that there will be a spectacular sunset. The truth is that weather conditions can change in a matter of moments and what you thought might be a BANG (good) ends up being a BUST (bad). On this particular evening it might have been a little of both. The low, heavy, gray clouds still could not keep the sun from shining colorfully through the sliver of clear sky it was given.
As we approach our "sunset years" I think there is a parallel. We can either go out with a bust or a bang. I believe we have a choice in that matter though. No, I'm not talking about the way our life will end but in the manner or attitude with which we carry ourselves to the throne room of God. We can choose to be bitter and negative about our circumstances or we can be a person of gratitude, grace, care and positivity.
Circumstances out of your control may bring you to death's doorway, but circumstances do not control the impact you'll have on others along that journey. Your heart attitude makes THAT difference.
How do you want family and friends to remember you? Practice kindness, grace, gratitude, humility, love, patience, forgiveness, gentleness, patience, self-control, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness and a servant's heart right now. Let people see Jesus in you to where they give God the glory for a fruit-filled, Spirit-led life.
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Matthew 5:16
Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Let your light shine colorfully even if the gray clouds are hanging overhead! Go out with a BANG that people will remember.
