STOP - Proceed with Caution
Choices... sometimes I feel like my head is spinning from all the decisions I must make in a day's time. Some are as simple as which clothes I will wear or foods I will eat, but sometimes they have larger implications to family, co-workers and career. Do I stop, go, charge recklessly on, proceed with caution?
Moses offered the people of Israel the following as they entered the Promised Land that God was giving them.
"This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to Him." (Deuteronomy 30:19-20)
Each of us has a Promised Land called Heaven that is ours if we choose life by following the Lord, listening to Him and being obedient to His desires for us. But, just as was offered the Israelite people, we can also choose cursing, death and eternal separation from God by going our own way.
So, before you proceed down the road, won't you just STOP for a moment and take note of where you are. And while you may not be able to clearly see what is around the corner, you still must choose between following your gut instincts or God's instructions. Proceed with Caution. It truly is a matter of life or death.
