The King
Monarch butterflies are the most beautiful of all butterflies, some say, and are considered the “king” of the butterflies, hence the name “monarch”. Likewise, the name "monarch" is believed to be given in honor of King William III of England, whose secondary title Prince of Orange makes a reference to the butterfly's main color.
However, there is but one who is both Lord of lords and King of Kings and that is God Almighty. Meditate on the words of the Psalmist David this morning and praise our Lord and King!
The Lord is King for ever and ever. (Psalm 10:16)
Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty— he is the King of glory. (Psalm 24:10)
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord is enthroned as King forever. (Psalm 29:10)
For the Lord Most High is awesome, the great King over all the earth. (Psalm 47:2)
For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. (Psalm 95:3)
The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. (Psalm 103:19)
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does. (Psalm 145:13)
