How does a photographer measure his or her worth?
How does a photographer measure his or her self worth? Is it by the number of LIKES he or she receives? How about LOVES? Comments? WOWs?
Perhaps it's by the number of friends, fans and followers? Or maybe the number of pages they "own" or groups in which they participate?
Oh, I know... it's by the number of magazine covers and articles that their work has appeared in, books they've written, classes they've taught, and photo excursions they've led.
I must certainly be getting close. But of course... how could I have forgotten the equipment? Yes, a photographer's self worth is directly proportional to the value of all their camera equipment combined.
No, you know me better than that. Do you want to know how a photographer determines their self worth? The same as anyone else -- by the purity of their faith.
Troubles come to prove that your faith is pure. This purity of faith is worth more than gold. Gold can be proved to be pure by fire, but gold can be destroyed. But the purity of your faith will bring you praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ comes again. You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You cannot see him now, but you believe in him. You are filled with a joy that cannot be explained. And that joy is full of glory. Your faith has a goal, to save your souls. And you are receiving that goal—your salvation. (1 Peter 1:7-9)
You are rich when your faith has been tested and purified, resulting in unexplainable joy, praise, honor, glory and salvation for your soul.
You can be the wealthiest photographer the world has ever known, but if you do not know Jesus then you have nothing.
Jesus said, "And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?" (Mark 8:36)
