Humble Beginnings for a King

The "King of Rock and Roll" was born in this tiny house in Tupelo, MS. Yes, this is the birthplace of Elvis Presley where he grew up prior to his family packing up for Memphis. These were indeed very humble beginnings for one who would enjoy great popularity and live lavishly in his adult years.

There was One however who was King of kings but demonstrated the greatest of humility by stepping out of His place of honor to be born in a stable and live among mankind -- even giving up His very life for others.

Philippians 2:6-11 tells us about Jesus' life from riches to rags to riches again.

[Jesus] who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

God Save the King (or Queen) is the National Anthem of the United Kingdom. I humbly bow to the King who saved me!
