God of this City

Darkness surrounded us. Police hurried from one scene to another. Helicopters flew to and from medical centers, a gang of wheelie riding motorcyclists came within a few feet of us. Yet, we were very much aware of God's presence as He showed His light over a bustling city that most often chooses to ignore Him. Still, there is hope for our city, for anyone who believes and follows Christ is no longer bound by chains in a prison of darkness.

[Jesus said] I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness. (John 12:46)

Chris Tomlin wrote a song entitled "God of this City" with the following lyrics:

You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation, You are

You're the Light in this darkness
You're the Hope to the hopeless
You're the Peace to the restless, You are

There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here

This is the Atlanta, GA city skyline as seen from the Jackson Street Bridge, and I believe that He is still God of this city and greater things are still to be done here!
